Conventions of magazine adverts

Conventions of magazine adverts

Before creating our final music video, as a group we felt that we should research about what the main conventions/features of a music video being promoted within a magazine are. First we needed to discuss what each of these were. The main functions are to
- To Promote the artist
- To sell the song
- To make the album artwork look eyecatching and vibrant to the selling audience members.

Conventions
- Song/Title of song
- Visual links eg intertexuality
- Including review from public, Managment teams
- Condensed infomation eg company or content of album
-Release Date of Album
- Artist Name
- Where it will be avalible from eg ( HMV, ITUNES)
- Record label logo
- Name of website/ company website
- Feature image of artists/band
Some other article from magazine
- Headlining magazine

Conventions of Digipaks
The digipak cover and poster is used to promote a new uncoming or modern artist. Here are some of the few things that the campign will include to promote there new single or album
- A recognisable font used across the campaign eg album posters
- The colour theme would either be steortypically simple or could be bold and vibrant to attract new and old audience listeners.
- There would be symbollic images or pictures on the front of the album artwork to link back to there older or even new tracks which would memorable.

Front- At the front of a digipak there is usually an image or a picture of the band or artist which tends to take up the whole of the surface area, this image is usually familiar to the viewing audience. Other conventions on the front of a Digipak is usually the type of font or colouring the band has decided to use, these tend to be colours or font that are related to the artist or a font that has been used before. If a Digipak is released as a single then the list of songs would be presented on the front of the Cd which could title some remixs of the song created by the company/record label. This would then help to promote the orginal song and the different versions of the songs to the viewing public. If needed there would also be a " Parent guidance" label on the front too.

Middle- Usually in the middle of a dispak there are related themes from the front of the Cd to show the consistensy throughout the album/single. In some dispaks there are sometimes some written peices by the artist or band about why they have decided to write some of these tracks and who they would have maybe been inspired by, sometimes in albums there are the lyrics to the songs for the viewing audience to look through. Currently in Dispaks, images are displayed of the band or artists to promote there new music video for the songs or pictures that have never been seen by the public before.

Back- On the back of the Digipak the track list is always to show the public what the album contains and nearer the end of the track list there always tends to include some extra songs that have not been released into the charts yet.It is usually overlayed by the image either from the front of the album or images from the booklet. Other conventions that you may see on the back of this is the barcode of the Cd which enables customers to buy this certain dispak and can some what make it look more authentic. If there has been a main theme running through the digipak then this theme would still be carried on through to the back.
